Capturing Memories: A Guide to Doing a Photoshoot While Traveling in Antigua Guatemala

Travel Photography

The best way to keep long-lasting traveling memories is through photos. When you plan a trip one of the things you hardly ever think of is hiring a professional photographer to do a traveling photoshoot. But why would you right? You most likely travel with your phone and your phone is an excellent tool to get all the photos you need while traveling. Well yes and no, sure you can get some amazing photos with your phone. It is something I do all the time when I travel with my wife and kids, I take my professional camera but the majority of the photos I take are with my phone. And these are good photos that create great memories, but in the end, they do not match the quality and the greatness of the photos I take with my professional camera. And when it’s time to print the photos, (YES, you should always print your photos. I’ll explain why in another blog post) I almost always print the ones from my professional camera and one or two from the ones I take with my phone.

Here is an example of two photos. One I took from my phone, and the other one with my professional camera. Which one do you think I ended up printing and adding to our camping trip album?

So how when you travel and want to have those long-lasting memories immortalized in beautiful photos, my suggestion is for you to find a local photographer who can help you do a quick 1-hour photoshoot and get you the best travel photos possible.

So in today’s s post, I’ll take you on a quick photo tour of some of the best places to get travel photos while you travel in Antigua Guatemala.

Jardines de Provenza - Antigua Guatemala Lavender Fields

For nature lovers and to get amazing views of the volcanoes surrounding Antigua Guatemala, you can get your photoshoot done at Jardines de Provenza. Jardines de Provenza is a beautiful lavender field ranch located in one of the mountains surrounding Antigua Guatemala. The ranch has a small restaurant and a few cabins where you can eat and spend a night or two. The grounds are beautiful, there is a big field of lavender that provide a beautiful scene for photos. To top it off, if the sky is clear you can see Volcano de Agua on the horizon. It is truly a beautiful place with a few different and beautiful sets to get you the best-traveling photos. They charge an entry fee that allows you to get your travel photoshoot done there. A one-hour photoshoot entry fee costs Q200.00 which is about $26.

Santa Clara Ruins, Capuchinas Convent, and more…

If you want to get photos in a completely unique place, then one of the many ruins that Antigua Guatemala has are the perfect choice for your travel photoshoot. The colonial architecture remains intact throughout the city. A lot of these buildings used to serve as convents and Churches in Spanish colonial times. But after years of wear and a few natural disasters now they sit as ruins/parks where you can pay a fee to enter and get your travel photoshoot done there. The entry fee costs Q1000.00 which is about $133.00.
